Product Description:

Minocycline hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, effective against tetracycline-sensitive or resistant Staphylococcus aureus; it is slightly stronger than other tetracyclines against green staphylococcus, astrocytic actinomycetes, Dictyococcus pneumoniae and bacterial-like microorganisms, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and the antibacterial strength against Escherichia coli, Aspergillus, Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, and Pseudomonas is similar to that of tetracyclines. Commonly used its hydrochloride, a yellow crystalline powder, odorless, bitter taste, can cause deterioration when exposed to light.    Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, easily soluble in hydroxide or carbonate solution of alkali metal.

2.   Minocycline hydrochloride is a salt prepared from minocycline, taking advantage of the two basic dimethylamino groups which protonate and readily form a salt from hydrochlori c acid solutions.The hydrochloride is the preferred formulation for pharmaceutical applications.Like all tetracyclines, minocycline shows broad spectrum antibacterial and antiprotozoan activity and acts by binding to the 30S and 50S ribosomal sub-units, blocking protein synthesis.
