Product Information:

VAT dye refers to the fiber is reduced under alkaline conditions, and then oxidized, on the fiber to restore the original insoluble dye and dyeing, used for dyeing cellulose fiber; The insoluble VAT dye is made into sodium sulfate, and the soluble VAT dye is used for cotton printing.

The reduction process of dyes, that is, the generation of VAT dye cryptochromophores, is generally carried out in alkaline media. In the molecular structure of VAT dyes, there are at least two carbonyl groups (=C=O), which are reduced to hydroxyl group (-OH) by a strong reducing agent sodium disulfite (commonly known as insurance powder). Insurance powder chemical property is very active, in alkaline conditions even if the temperature is very low, can also produce a strong reduction, so that the VAT dye is reduced to cryptoic acid.
