Poria cocos is the dried sclerotia of Poria cocos (Schw.) Wolf, a fungus of the family Poria cocos (Schw.). It is parasitized on the rhizomes of Pinus pine or Masson pine, buried in the soil for 20~30 cm to multiply. The inner part of the Poria nucleus is Bai Poria, the outer part is Poria bark, and the sclerotium with pine roots is Poria. Poria are fungi of the Polyporaceae family. Poria bark is the dry skin peeled off during processing of Poria sclerotia. As a traditional medicine and food, Poria has a long history of application. Its taste is sweet, light, and has a flat nature. It has the effects of diuresis and dampness, invigorating the spleen and calming the heart. It is often used for edema, oliguria, phlegm, palpitations, spleen deficiency and less food. , Loose stools, diarrhea, restlessness, palpitations and insomnia. Poria can be compatible with a variety of traditional Chinese medicines. Representative prescriptions include Guizhi Fuling Decoction, Wuling Powder and Sijunzi Decoction. The main chemical components of Poria cocos extract are: polysaccharides, triterpenes, fatty acids, sterols, enzymes, etc. Since the 1970s, Chinese and foreign scholars have studied the chemical components and biological activities of Poria cocos, and found that a large number of triterpenoids contained in it have immunomodulatory, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antagonistic aldosterone, and induce differentiation of leukemia cell line HL-60. For leukemia (L1210), the survival time can be prolonged, by 70% when used alone, and by 168.1% when combined with cyclofluramide.
