PRL-8-53 is a nootropic research compound first synthesized in the 1970's by Dr Nikolaus Hansl while working at Creighton University,he single study involving humans showed PRL-8-53 improved word recollection scores both 24 and 96 hours after initial memorization. Prl-8-53 is an experimental compound considered by many to be one of the most effective memory enhancers. Its full name is methyl 3-(2-(benzyl (methyl) amino) ethyl) benzoate.

The researchers found that oral supplementation of PRL-8-53 improved avoidance learning in rats. A human study of PRL-8-53 was also conducted. In a double-blind crossover study, each participant received a placebo and PRL-8-53 at different times. The participants then took a memory test consisting of twelve one-syllable words in a specific order. The experiment was carried out 3 times, namely immediately after the supplement, 1 day after the supplement and 4 days after the supplement.

There is little evidence, but there are signs that this synthetic, brain-boosting compound may be able to improve learning and memory formation.
